چکیده

Key Elements for a Sustainable World: Energy, Water and Climate Change

Emulsion polymerization is considered a safe, economic, versatile, and consequently of interest as an environmentally friendly process. However , surfactants utilized need to be biodegradable , and still guarantee a good film quality , with an adequate performance according to its end use. We investigated the substitution of an alkyl phenol ethoxylated (APE) surfactant ,commonly for a sulfosucc...

Pickering Emulsion Polymerization of Styrene-co-butyl Acrylate Nanoparticles by Using Cloisite Na+ as Surfactant

Cloisite Na+was used as a solid surfactant (stabilizer) in Pickering emulsion polymerization of styrene-co-butyl acrylate in presence of oil soluble initiator, azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) and water soluble initiator, potassium persulfate (KPS). Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectrum approved the corporation of Cloisite Na+ layers within the polymer matrix. Effect of clay content was a...

Mini-emulsion preparation, kinetics of reaction and physical properties of acrylic terpolymer lattices

In this study, stable lattices of terpolymer butyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, and styrene were synthesized by a mini-emulsion polymerization technique using tert-butyl hydroperoxide TBHP/Fe2 /ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid/sodium formaldehyde sulfoxylate redox initiators at room temperature, and the kinetics of the reaction were studied. The reaction rate was obtained from periodic samplin...

Soap-free emulsion polymerization of poly (methyl methacrylate-co-butyl acrylate): effects of anionic comonomers and methanol on the different characteristics of the latexes

Soap-free emulsion polymerization (SFEP) of methyl methacrylate, butyl acrylate was conducted in water/methanol media with sodium salts of four different acidic comonomers, namely styrene sulfonic acid (NaSS), 2-acrylamide-2-methyl-1-propane sulfonic acid (NaAmps), acrylic acid (NaAA), and itaconic acid (Na2ita). It was found that the introduction of methanol as co-solvent (35 wt%) to the mediu...

Phase behavior of amphiphilic diblock co-oligomers with nonionic and ionic hydrophilic groups.

The synthesis of a series of co-oligomer amphiphiles by RAFT and their self-assembly behavior in water is described. These novel amphiphiles, comprised of styrene, butyl acrylate, and alkyl hydrophobes together with ionic acrylic acid and nonionic hydroxyethylacrylate hydrophilic moieties and with a total degree of polymerization from 5 to 17, represent a new class of small-molecule surfactants...
